What Rotate PDF does

Rotate PDF applies a uniform rotation to every page in your document. Choose 90, 180, or 270 degrees and Slate rewrites the PDF so every page opens in the correct orientation — permanently. Unlike a viewer rotation flag that only hints at orientation, this changes the actual page data so the document displays correctly everywhere.

Common use cases

• Fixing sideways scans: When a scanner feeds pages in landscape orientation, the resulting PDF opens sideways. Rotate 90 or 270 degrees to fix it.
• Upside-down pages: Some scanning workflows produce upside-down output. A 180-degree rotation corrects it instantly.
• Landscape documents: If a landscape PDF opens as portrait in your viewer, rotating it 90 degrees puts it in the right orientation for reading.

Permanent rotation vs. viewer rotation

Whole document vs. individual pages
