Your files

Slate's PDF tools run entirely in your browser. When you select a file, it is read into your device's memory and processed locally. Your files are never uploaded to our servers and we never see, store, or transmit their contents.

What we collect

We collect minimal, anonymous usage counts (for example, "the merge tool was used") to understand which tools are popular. This never includes file names or file contents. We do not require an account and do not ask for personal information to use the tools.

Advertising

Slate is funded by display advertising, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. For more on how partners use data, see Google's policy.

Cookies

We use only the cookies required for the site to function and for advertising as described above. Because there are no accounts, we do not set login or tracking cookies of our own beyond anonymous analytics.

Terms of use

Slate is provided "as is", free of charge, without warranty of any kind. The tools are intended for documents you own or have the right to modify. We are not liable for any loss arising from use of the tools; always keep a backup of important files.
