Extracting pages pulls a chosen range out of a PDF into a brand-new file, leaving the original untouched. It is ideal when you need to share only a section of a larger document.

What extracting pages does

You specify which pages to keep, and Slate copies just those pages into a new PDF with their layout and quality preserved. Unlike removing pages, extraction is framed around what you want to keep rather than what you want to delete, which is handy when the keepers are only a few.

The extracted pages are exact copies, so fonts, images, and formatting carry over unchanged, and the new file is completely independent of the source. You can gather a single page, one continuous range, or several separate ranges into one document in a single step. This makes extraction the tidiest way to reuse part of a report, share a signed page, or hand someone exactly the pages they asked for.

When extracting pages helps

• You need to send one chapter or a single form out of a long file.
• A signed page or certificate must be shared on its own.
• You want to reuse a few pages from a report in another document.
• Someone asked for pages 10 to 15 and nothing else.
